Helios Foundation partners with F’in Common for a greener ULB campus

Helios Foundation is proud to announce its financial support to the credit cooperative F’in Common in the framework of RenoCampus, an ambitious project to cut carbon emissions of ULB’s campuses through major energy-saving renovations.

Taking real action on climate

Faced with climate challenges and rising energy costs, ULB has created a Climate Plan to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2027.

The RenoCampus project is a key part of this plan, upgrading important buildings to make them more energy efficient and comfortable. With help from Helios Foundation, this work is moving forward quickly, creating a campus that’s better for the environment and everyone who uses it.

Three major building upgrades

RenoCampus is improving several important campus buildings to save energy and reduce pollution:

✅ New windows for Building H (Solbosch campus)
💡 Annual gas savings: 300 MWh
🌱 CO₂ emissions reduction: 60 tons per year

Heat pumps at ULB Campus

✅ New windows for Building BC (Plaine campus)
💡 Annual gas savings: 800 MWh
🌱 CO₂ emissions reduction: 170 tons per year

✅ Better heating systems for the entire Solbosch campus
💡 Annual gas savings: 2,400 MWh
💡 Annual electricity savings: 350 MWh
🌱 CO₂ emissions reduction: 550 tons per year

These improvements will save as much energy as 270 households use is a year, while making buildings more comfortable for students and staff.

A smart approach others can follow

RenoCampus uses a new funding model never tried before in Belgium, created by Financité and implemented by F’in Common. This innovative approach isn’t limited to ULB, other universities colleges, and similar institutions, could adopt it too, spreading these benefits across education institutions.

By financing F’in Common, Helios Foundation supports RenoCampus and continues its commitment to sustainability and innovation in higher education. Together, we’re creating a greener future for generations to come

Taking the next step toward a campus that leads the way in energy efficiency.
